Lenovo Tab 7 is one of the best tablets you can buy under Rs 10000 in India. Lenovo has packed the tablet with 4G LTE connectivity and also support voice calling feature, but it supports single SIM only. The body is made of plastic but feels rigid in hand and should able to survive abuse if you lend it to your children.
The Lenovo Tab 7 runs on Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box with Lenovo’s own UI on top. It is relatively light at 260 grams and 8.4mm thickness, ideal for one-handed use. The 7-inch IPS HD ready display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels gets adequately bright with decent color accuracy and is an excellent choice for media consumption including Netflix and Hulu streaming on the go or at home.
Lenovo has packed the Tab 7 with a 1.3GHz MediaTek 64-Bit quad-core processor paired with 2GB of RAM. It also comes with 16 GB of internal storage and a micro SD card slot for memory expansion. Lenovo Tab 7 performs well during day-to-day casual tasks like video streaming, light gaming, and web browsing.

2. Samsung Galaxy Tab A – 4G LTE – 7″ HD
Price – Rs 9,499 / Check the Latest Price
If you prefer something from the South Korean electronics giant Samsung, the Galaxy Tab A is an excellent choice for tablets under Rs 10000. It comes with 4G LTE connectivity to start with and of course the Samsung touchscreen display.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab A is all made of plastic, but the textured back offers good grip. It is a 7-inch tablet weighing around 290 grams which is heavier than the Lenovo Tab 7 and measure 10.9mm thick. Even though it is not as light and compact as the Lenovo Tab 7, handling the tablet is not an issue.
It supports single SIM 4G LTE connectivity with voice calling feature and runs on Android Lollipop 5.0 which shouldn’t be a problem if you are using the tablet for media consumption. There is a 5 Megapixel rear camera and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera, but the results are just average as expected from a tablet.
The Galaxy Tab A sports a 7″ HD IPS display that offers good touch response and lag-free viewing and watching experience. The display gets adequately bright and provides good viewability except when under direct sunlight.
Under the hood, it comes packed with a 1.5GHz Spreadtrum processor coupled with 1.5 GB of RAM and 8GB of Internal storage. You can further expand the storage using the micro SD card slot. The performance of the tablet is adequate for casual tasks like web browsing and video streaming. The audio on the tablet is decent as well. However, if you want to do demanding tasks like playing games like Asphalt, the tablet may feel slow at times.
The 4000 mAh battery can last up to 9 hours of moderate use on average. It also comes pre-installed with Kids Mod 4.0 which allows the parents to create a separate space for kids on the tablet and prevent them from accessing any other application other than that approved for kids.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab A is a good 7-inch Android tablet that shines with its bright and crisp display and overall a good all-rounder for the price.
3. iBall Slide Wings 4GP – 4G LTE – 8″ HD
Price – Rs 8,499 / Check Latest Price
The iBall Slide Wings 4GP is a budget tablet that offers 8-inch display and 4G VoLTE connectivity and still costs less than the Samsung and Lenovo tablets mentioned above. The Slide Wings 4GP is made of plastic, but the quality could have been better. On the back, the matte finish is better than the glossy finish that you find on other cheap tablets.
The HD resolution 8″ IPS LCD display is of average quality. It offers decent viewability in the ideal conditions but becomes unreadable under direct sunlight. The touch response is good as well. iBall has packed the tablet with 2 GB of RAM, 16 GB internal storage, paired with ARM cortex quad-core processor. The RAM management is good and keeps most of the apps in the memory. We tried it with Netflix and YouTube streaming without any issues. However, anything above 720p quality will make it slow.
The rear and front-facing camera is weak, which is also the case with a battery which averages 4-5 hours of backup. The heat management is good, so is the sound quality. The iBall Slide Wings 4GP is an average tablet and offers decent performance for the price and is a good option if you are planning to use it for media consumption or your kids.
4. iBall Slide Wondro 10 – 10″ HD
Price – Rs 7,499 / Check the Latest Price
If you want a tablet mainly to read ebooks, PDFs and watch and streaming videos, then the iBall Slide Wondro is a good choice. It comes with a 10-inch HD IPS display with average color accuracy and viewability. The touch response is good for casual tasks like reading and video watching.
The tablet is made of plastic, and the large screen size means it is heavy. It weighs close to 950g which is not ideal for one-handed use. The performance on the tablet is powered by a MediaTek processor paired with 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of internal storage. The microSD card slot is a welcome feature. We did not notice any lag while reading PDFs or ebook or even while watching videos. But, if you want to play games, this is not the tablet.
It supports OTG, and the cable is included in the box. It runs on Android OS 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box. The rear and front-facing cameras are poor, and we didn’t expect it to be any better at this price. The battery backup is poor too and may last around 4-5 hours depending on the usage.
The iBall Slide Wondro is not for everyone. If you are someone looking for a large 10-inch Android tablet to read PDFs and Ebook and watch some videos, this tablet is a good choice.
